I have, at the very last minute, come down with covid. I'm packed and everything; the one thing I didn't do yet was get my boarding pass. So I've spent all morning sending my regrets, cancelling the hotel etc. I'm really very upset about this because I have so many good friends in the Boston area and was looking forward to a little ego-boo from the fans, too. I don't think I've been down there since Lockdown. Ah well, next year I hope.
Speaking of SF, contact with you here got me to order "Lockstep" from White Dwarf in Vancouver (my Amazon; I send them an email, Walter writes back when the book comes in, I hop over on my bike - what IS Amazon actually good for, anyway?)
...and Lockstep is the best dang SF book I've read in a while. Just a really cool idea, solves FTL in a novel way, explores great ideas. I give the highest accolade I can give SF: The whole thing is preposterous, yet I believed it because I wanted to!
